The Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security agencies in their ongoing efforts to combat banditry and secure communities across the state.
The assurance was detailed in an official statement released by Garba Mohammed, Director of Press Affairs in the Office of the Deputy Governor.
Speaking during a condolence visit to Kebbe Local Government Area following recent attacks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Idris Mohammed Gobir, emphasized that sustained collaboration between the administration and security forces remains vital to tackling regional insecurity.
He also urged residents to assist law enforcement by providing timely and actionable intelligence.
Detailing the government’s intervention, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, announced direct financial and food relief for the affected families and injured victims.
Families of the 41 victims killed in the attack, comprising 37 individuals from Ungushi, two from Kebbe, and four security personnel—will each receive N1 million, alongside two bags of maize, two bags of millet, and one bag of rice.
Also, each of the 25 injured persons currently undergoing medical treatment will receive N250,000, along with one bag each of rice, millet, and maize.
Local stakeholders—including the Chairman of Kebbe Local Government, Alhaji Musa Garba Kuchi; the Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Bala Kokani; the District Head of Kebbe, Alhaji Lawali Labbo Margai; and the District Head of Ungushi, Alhaji Idris Abubakar expressed appreciation for the state government’s prompt visit, humanitarian support, and ongoing security interventions in the area.
